The Brentwood Firecracker 5k Run was the dream of the late Mayor Jim Joyce and Jim Rohm. When former Mayor Ron Arnoni and Race Director Janice Boyko assumed the leadership in 1998, the tradition continued. Each year, the race donates a sizeable contribution to the 4th of July Committee and supports other rotating charities.

When Mayor Ken Lockhart came aboard, with race directors Maureen Cunningham & Kira Kellner, we continued to provide a first class event and distribute our proceeds. Our main benefactor in 2017 was the 4th of July Committee. In addition, several local Brentwood organizations and a Brentwood High School F1 team are awarded.

In 2017, financial support was given to the Brentwood Food Pantry, 4th of July Committee, Brentwood Drop the Puck on Cancer, and Brentwood High School F1 Team Interstellar.
